Rabat – The famous taxi-finding service, Uber, has finally been launched in Morocco after it began a test phase in Casablanca, the country’s largest city.
After Dubai, Amman and Cairo, Casablanca has officially become the 328th city in the world that benefits from Uber services.
The Casablanca launch comes as no surprise as Uber Morocco created its official account on Twitter and Instagram weeks ago, to reach out to Moroccans and also to hire staff.
Speaking to Media24, Meryem Belqziz, the General Director of Uber Morocco, confirmed that Uber will be launching in phases across Morocco.
“To ensure our services respect the highest standards, we will begin by a soft launch. While the service will be operational for a week in Casablanca, the official launch is scheduled in a few months” Belqziz announced.
She went on to add that the company will analyze its operations on the ground during the test phase and proceed with the necessary adjustments for a better service.
Uber is currently the cheapest private driver service in many cities. The Uber app works by allowing people to order a car. The app will also allow customers to find out how long it will take their taxi to arrive and how much their journey will cost.
It was originally launched in California in 2010. Currently, Uber offers its service in more than 300 cities worldwide.
