The International rights watchdog, Amnesty International, described, on Tuesday, Morocco’s constitutional reforms, approved by a landslide majority during a referendum on July 1, as an important step in the right direction.
In a statement to MAP, the London based NGO commended the inclusion in the new Moroccan constitution of clauses that commit the government to upholding human rights.
In this respect, Amnesty International highlighted that Morocco’s supreme law enshrines protecting the right to freedom of expression, ensures parity between men and women and explicitly criminalizes the use of abuses.
