Ali Richi, a former Libyan Migration Minister who defected to the rebels, criticized Algeria’s stand regarding the revolution to overthrow Gaddafi regime.
Richi , who was contacted by the Tangier-based Medi 1 Radio, said that the rebels are “disappointed” by Algeria’s position regarding the revolution.
He also deplored positions taken by some countries, saying that “they were misled in their analysis”. “We will give them the possibility to reconsider their positions.”
On the other hand, Richi expressed gratitude to the whole political forces in the Maghreban region who adopted stands supporting the Libyan revolution.
The new leadership in Libya will endeavour to bring Maghreban countries closer with a view to reinforce the Maghreb Union, in which, he said, Libya will play an active role.
Richi expressed hope to see the friendly relations strengthened between Maghreban states, recalling in this respect Morocco’s call for the opening of borders with Algeria.
Last March, Ali Richi, had denounced the presence of the Polisario mercenaries with the Gaddafi troops. Mr. Ali asserted that the Polisario dispatched its mercenaries in order to help Qaddafi to suppress and kill his opponents. Mr. Errishi went on to condemn the Polisario members for their “hypocrisy in claiming to fight for freedom and progressive ideal, while joining the mercenary army that Qaddafi has paid to attack Libyan protesters and cling to power”.
