Maghreb sports club of Fez qualified, with difficulty, for the final match of the soccer African Confederation Cup, following its victory on Sunday evening, in Fez Stadium, over Inter Club of Angola with one goal to nil, during the second leg of the CAF semi-finals.
The winning goal was scored by striker Chtaibi Shemes Din during overtime, 5 minutes after the end of the official time. The first leg match, which was played two weeks ago in Luanda, had ended in favor of the Angolan team 2-1.
MAS will face in the final Club Africain of Tunisia, which qualified at the expense of Sunshine Stars of Nigeria after they defeated them in the first leg match in Nigeria 1-0 and drew a tie with them in the second leg match in Tunisia 0-0.
The first leg of the final match will be played in Tunis on 19 or 20 November, whereas the second leg will be played in Fez on 3 or 4 December.
This is the second consecutive year that the CAF Confederation Cup will pit one Moroccan team against a Tunisian team. Last year’s final was played between the FUS Club of Rabat and Tunisian Club of Sfax. The FUS of Rabat made history when it won the two-leg final for the first time and became the fourth Moroccan team to win the tournament after Kawkab of Marrakesh (KACM), Raja of Casablanca and FAR or Rabat.
The finals of the top-tier African competition club (Champions League) will also feature clubs from Morocco and Tunisia, namely the WAC of Casablanca and Esperance of Tunisia.
In addition to these encounters at the club level, Morocco and Tunisia national teams will play each other in the African Cup of Nations, which will occur from 21 January to 12 February 2012 in Angola and Equatorial Guinea.
