Morocco decided to recall its Ambassador to Syria following the attacks against its embassy in Damascus by Syrian protesters, Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri said on Wednesday in Tangier.
“HM the King decided on Wednesday to recall the Moroccan Ambassador to Syria following the attack on the Kingdom’s embassy in Damascus by Syrian protesters”, said Fassi Fihri at the opening of the 4th Medays Forum.
“We listened to the apologies yesterday and the day before, but the incidents not only have been repeated but were expanded to violate the security and the international conventions by protesters who sacked the Moroccan embassy in Damascus,” explained the Moroccan official.
Fassi Fihri recalled that the recent days saw demonstrations that are “inacceptable and un-spontaneous and consequently planned,” adding that several protesters attacked diplomatic missions of European, American and Arab countries.
Earlier in the day Morocco condemned in the strongest terms the aggressions against its embassy in Damascus and other Arab and western diplomatic missions.
