The high-level Moroccan delegation taking part in the Arab League’s observer mission to Syria, tasked with monitoring the evolution of the situation in this country, arrived on Saturday in Cairo.
The delegation, composed of HM the King’s ambassador in Nouakchott, Abderrahmane Benomar, as coordinator, as well as jurists and military and security experts, will arrive next week in Syria for a determined period and as part of the well-defined mission.
The dispatch of the Moroccan delegation is in accordance with the Arab League’s resolutions and the protocol on the legal status and the obligation of the monitor mission to Syria, signed by the Arab League and Damascus, in order to ensure the all chances of success of the Arab action plan aiming to achieve a way out of the crisis in this country, in order to preserve security and unity.
An Arab League advance party, accompanied by members of the media, arrived in Syria late on Thursday to prepare for the arrival of the full delegation.
