The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) has completed its representation across the Kingdom with the setting up shortly of regional committees to protect and promote human rights.
These committees will ensure the follow-up and monitoring of human rights at the regional level and will be tasked with receiving citizens’ complaints relating to human rights violations, the CNDH said in a statement.
The new committees, to be installed as of January 09, will represent the regions of Béni-Mellal-Khouribga, Al Hoceima-Nador, Marrakech, Oujda-Feguig, Casablanca-Settat, Ouarzazate-Agadir, Tangier and Rabat-Kenitra.
Beside the President, each committee will include a representative of the Mediator Institute as well members representing the region’s judges, lawyers, doctors, Ulemas, journalists and representatives of regional human rights associations along with civil society and other human rights activists.
