Foreign Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani on Tuesday voiced Morocco’s determination to strengthen its cooperation with Asian countries.
Following a meeting in Rabat with the ambassadors of Asian countries accredited to Morocco, El Othmani announced that programmes and initiatives will be undertaken to promote the political, economic and cultural relations with these countries, noting that some of them are undertaking, through partnerships, to major projects initiated in the country.
Morocco wants to consolidate its special relations with Asian countries, the second trading partner after Europe, he said.
The new government’s foreign policy will be developed on the basis of general guidelines and overall principles that guided the Moroccan diplomacy, he added, stressing that these guidelines are based on openness, diversification of partners and the preservation of balance in international relations, said the minister.
He also said Morocco could inject new momentum in its external relations to overcome the challenges brought forth by regional and international changes.
This meeting is part of a series of communication meetings organized by the Foreign Department with the diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom, said El Othmani.
The minister had held similar meetings on Monday with ambassadors of foreign countries accredited to Morocco.
