Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani on Thursday said Morocco grants a “special interest” in its relations with Latin American countries.
Morocco has always given special attention to its relations with Latin American countries, said El Othmani after his meeting in Rabat with South American ambassadors accredited to the kingdom, welcoming the strong ties binding the two sides in various fields.
He said Morocco, which has undertaken in significant democratic reforms, seeks to maintain strong ties with these countries, recalling the visit in 2004 by HM King Mohammed VI to six Latin American countries.
Despite strong bilateral political relations, the economic sector remains below the aspirations of both parties, said El Othmani, urging for paying more interest to trade and economic relations.
Morocco aims to create new ways to strengthen its relations with Latin American countries, he added.
El Othmani also thanked thanks Latin American countries for supporting Morocco’s bid to a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, noting that the kingdom will support from its side the initiatives taken by these countries in international organizations.
This meeting is part of a series of communication meetings organized by the Foreign Ministry with the diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom.
