Free trade agreements concluded by Morocco will be boosted and broadened, Morocco’s Foreign Minister Saadeddine El Othmani said on Friday.
“We will not review free trade agreements. We will boost them instead and try to broaden them to include new aspects,” El Othmani told French-speaking daily “L’Economiste”.
“Morocco is an open country and we are in an era of globalization. We will not act against history. We will boost these agreements taking account of our country’s economic interests,” he insisted.
The official added that Morocco has always kept privileged ties with Turkey, noting that the free trade agreement signed by the two parties mirrors how good Moroccan-Turkish relations are.
“We will strive to bolster economic, political and cultural relations. Other aspects of cooperation will be improved in the future,” he underlined.
He concluded by stressing that “we cannot imagine a diplomatic relation without the economic aspect which is crucial.”
