The second US-Maghreb Entrepreneurship Conference opened on Tuesday in Marrakech with the participation of North African business leaders and entrepreneurs, business leaders of the North African diaspora, along with U.S. businessmen and young entrepreneurs.
The conference, to run until January 18, will include concrete training sessions and partnership-focused workshops on key challenges for advancing entrepreneurship, notably in terms of Improving access to capital in the Maghreb, Catalyzing youth entrepreneurship in the Maghreb, promoting cross-border business partnerships, building partnerships with Maghreb diaspora entrepreneurs in the United States.
The event also aims to address youth unemployment through education, exchange and mentorship.
The conference is a regional follow-on to the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship held in Washington, D.C., in April 2010 and serves as the annual partnership convening event for the U.S. – North Africa Partnership for Economic Opportunity (NAPEO), part of the global alliance Partners for a New Beginning (PNB).
PNB-NAPEO brings together business, nongovernmental, and public organizations in theUnited States andNorth Africa to create regional partnerships that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation.
