Communication Minister, Government Spokesman, Mustapha El Khalfi, said that the future press code, which should “reflects the constitutional provisions,” will be “modern defending freedom of the press and ensuring the necessary guarantees” for free exercise of the profession.
In an interview published on Tuesday by the French—speaking daily “L’Economiste,” the minister gave an overview of sector reforms in the print and broadcasting, referred to the draft Code of the press and government support to the Moroccan media by the development of contracts- program.
Referring to the establishment of an independent body for self-regulation of the press that will take care of the ethics of the profession in accordance with international standards, in order to provide more guarantees for the exercise of the profession, the minister stressed that among those guarantees the limitation, in a significant way, of the deprivation of liberty.
