Roschdy Zem movie “Omar m’a tuer” (Morocco) was not listed among the five finalists for the Foreign Language Film category for Hollywood’s 84th Academy Awards the 2012 announced Tuesday by the American Academy of Motion Picture arts and sciences.
The five nominated movies for the Oscar are: “Bullhead” (Belgium), “Monsieur Lazhar” (Canada), “A Separation” (Iran), “Footnote” (Israel) and “In Darkness” (Poland).
The Moroccan film “Omar m’a tuer” was among the nine films that had advanced to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category for Hollywood’s 84th Academy Awards.
Sixty-three films have been originally qualified in the category befor the shortlist was winnowed down to the five nominees by specially invited committees in New York and Los Angeles.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented February 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
