The Moroccan diplomacy acts according to a clear strategy that focuses on priorities laid in the Constitution and the defense of national causes and interests, Foreign Minister Sâad Eddine El Othmani said on Thursday in Rabat.
In a statement to the press before the weekly cabinet meeting, the minister said that his first official visit to Algeria (January 23-25) gave momentum to bilateral ties, underlining that a program was elaborated to boost these bonds in the future.
This visit was the occasion to discuss means and ways likely to reinvigorate the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), adding that he also tackled this issue with Tunisian officials during his participation in the ceremonies marking the first anniversary of the Tunisian revolution.
On his visit to Addis-Ababa (January 28-31), he stressed the African leaders’ high esteem for the role played by Morocco on the African scene.
Even if Morocco is not a member of the African Union, the Kingdom adopts an efficient foreign policy at the African level as shows the large number of African countries having voted in favor of electing Morocco as a non-permanent member state of the UN Security Council, he went on.
