Morocco’s carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is determined to modernize its fleet by reducing its average age, currently five years, and enhance its productivity, the company’s CEO Driss Benhima said.
Benhima said, in an interview with the Moroccan weekly +Vie Eco+ published on Friday, that the company put out of use ten aircrafts “among the oldest and costliest.”
He stressed the need for maintenance, adding that the company has a complete line of heavy maintenance of Boeing 737, announcing that the company ordered new cockpits for Boeing 767 and 747, which “will be ready before next summer”, as well as new seats for the oldest Boeing 737 aircrafts.
He pointed out that the company’s flights have fallen by 5% and 8% since November 1, 2011, which shows an improvement in air passenger occupancy rate.
To rise to competition challenges, Benhima proposed a new, less costly human resource management.
