The democratic transition and political reforms undertaken by Morocco constitute a model to follow in the region and the Arab world, Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani said.
Political reforms carried out by Morocco are a lesson for neighboring countries, he told Portuguese news agency “Lussa” on the sidelines of his official visit to Portugal.
The democratic transition and political reforms were implemented with serenity, transparency, stability and within the framework of institutions, he said.
On cooperation ties between Morocco and Portugal, he recalled that the two countries have long-standing relations, stressing the need to take advantage of these relations to foster bilateral cooperation.
Referring to the situation in Syria, he voiced Morocco’s disappointment with the vetoing by Russia and China of a draft resolution submitted by the Kingdom to the UNSC.
“People are dying everyday, this is a real tragedy for the Syrian people,” he deplored, noting that Arab Foreign Ministers will meet in the days to come to assess the situation in this country and discuss actions to be taken.
