Present in more than 110 countries with over 60 000 members, AIESEC is the world’s largest student run organization. Since 1948, AIESEC has focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development. With a vision of Peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential, AIESEC offers young students and graduates the opportunity to gain experience, be global citizens, change the world, and be ready for the professional world.
AIESEC is present in Morocco since 1986, gathering more than 300 university students and graduates from different cities of the country, mainly from Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech and Ifrane. AIESEC’s main work is exchanging experiences by looking for internship opportunities abroad for Moroccan students, and searching for internships in Morocco for foreign students. It’s an opportunity given to young people to know more cultures and be able to experience working abroad. In addition to that, AIESEC organizes projects and conferences, either at the national or the international level.
This year, AIESEC Morocco is organizing an international conference: MENA XLDS’12 (Middle East and North Africa eXchange and Leadership Development Seminar) in its 6th edition. It’s the biggest regional AIESEC conference of the MENA region that will be held from in Marrakech 11 to the 17 March, 2012 , in Hotel Eden Andalou. It will host AIESECers not only from the MENA region, but also from different parts of the globe such as Japan, Spain, Turkey, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and many other countries from the WENA, AP, and CEE regions.
The objective of this seven days conference is to develop the leadership skills and raise the awareness about the importance of the cultural exchange through the different sessions and workshops that will be held during the congress.
There are four major events in the MENA XLDS’12 such as the Opening Ceremony, which will take place during the first day of the congress, where AIESEC international representatives will be welcoming the delegates for an unforgettable and memorable week that is awaiting them. There is also the Gala Dinner that represents a moment of networking between delegates and partners. One of the most important events is the Global Village. It is open for both AIESECers and non AIESECers, where all delegates present their countries, their cultures and traditions, and they will also show the uniqueness of the organization and how diverse and global it is. This event will be a great opportunity for Moroccan public as well as delegates to discover and learn about countries they didn’t know before and interact with representatives of these countries.
These events will undoubtedly help reduce stereotypes and misunderstandings of participants toward one another, and will enrich and broaden their cultural knowledge.
