As a first initiative of this kind, Bank al-Maghreb and other financial institutions open their doors for 30000 students from all Moroccan regions for an educational visit. This educational journey will be a chance for students to have familiarity with the finance sector and learn some basic financial concepts.
The initiative comes under the name “The Financial Day of Children” which will benefit students between 8 and 17 of age from 400 different educational institutions from all parts of Morocco.
Doors are the period between March 16- 22 with the participation of the National Education Ministry, the Economy and Finance Ministry, the Securities Council, the Social Insurance Directorate, the Stock Exchange of Casablanca, the Professional Association of Bank al-Maghreb, and the Moroccan League of Finance and re-Finance Companies.
To secure the success of this program, Bank al-Maghreb recruited 300 animators to accompany students in their visits to the Bank, the Stock Exchange of Casablanca, the insurance companies participating in the initiative, several banking agencies, and mint and Bank al-Maghreb Museum.
During the program, Bank al-Maghreb will also distribute a flyer in Arabic and French entitled “Our Children Discovering the World of Finance” to help participants test what they have learned during the journey by answering simple questions related to the cash establishment, how to open a bank account or a saving account, stock exchange and insurance…
Bank al-Maghreb considers this initiative an opportunity to increase and deepen the awareness and knowledge about the national strategy for financial education that can enhance individual initiatives. This national strategy aims at strengthening the practices of financial inclusion and contributing to the establishment of the foundations of financial and entrepreneurial capacity development of all the segments of society.
This initiative is organized in partnership with the International Organization to Promote Financial Awareness among Children and Youth, which is a non-governmental organization based in Amsterdam, Holland. It aims at integrating children and youth in the financial world system.
It is worth noting that after a research done by this organization, it came to the result that 25 countries regularly organize specific activities to raise financial awareness and education for children.
