Morocco was elected on Thursday Rapporteur of the office of the Conference of Information Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at its 9th session which opened in the morning in Libreville.
Represented at this conference by a delegation led by Communication Minister, Government Spokesperson, Mustapha El Khalfi, the Kingdom was also elected member of the committee to monitor implementation of the recommendations of the session.
The Ministers of Information and heads of delegations of the 57 OIC member countries and representatives of NGOs in addition to the general secretary of the organization, Ekmeleddin Ihsanogolu, attended the event.
The opening session was chaired by El Khalfi, as Morocco chaired the 8th session of the conference.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister called for the adoption of the program of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) on the establishment of a training course for journalists in order to correct stereotypes about Islam and Muslims in Western media.
This program, said El Khalfi, are an efficient means as it provides professionals of the press with means and appropriate methods to correct such stereotypes about Islam and Muslims and fight against Islamophobia.
