An United Arab Emirate resident is reported to own the world’s smallest Quran measuring just 5.1cm in length and 8cm in width. Comprising of 550 pages, his copy is estimated to be about 400 years old.
According to ‘Al Jazeera’ newspaper, Muhannad Ameel Issa inherited the holy text from his ancestors. Issa said it was found near Jerusalem and written in the Moroccan script.
When asked if he would sell his copy of the Quran, he expressed his intention to keep it.
“I have some sort of spiritual connection with this rare copy,” said Issa. “It is a priceless treasure,” he added.
The irony is that Emi is Christian and brought the rare copy with him to the UAE in 1989.
“I grew up with Islam and Muslims” he said. He continued: “we lived together in peace and harmony.”
