Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhannouch said, on Tuesday in Meknes, that cereal harvest is expected to reach about 48 million quintals during the 2012 crop year.
This poor performance is mainly due to rain scarcity, as well as the steep temperature drop which affected negatively this crop year, the Minister said at the fifth National Conference on agriculture’s opening session, attended mainly by Head of the government Abdelilah Benkirane and government officials.
Held under the Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the meeting touches on the rural area’s specificities and needs for production tools, income-generating activities, infrastructure and equipment.
