The Mohammed Abed al-Jabri Foundation of Thought and Culture is organizing an international seminar on “Identity and Globalization”, to be held May 5 at the National Library in Rabat. Mohamed al-Jabri is considered one the most distinguished modern philosophers. As such, the foundation was established, last year, to preserve and celebrate his intellectual legacy by promoting discourse on thought, culture, intellect, and philosophy. The foundation also seeks to keep al-Jabri’s work linked to current and future generations in order to enable them to understand and interact with his pattern of thoughts.
The international seminar will commemorate the second anniversary of the death of al-Jabri and is organized within the framework of a continuous implementation of the foundation’s mission to highlighting al-Jabri’s thought, studies and research, which are considered today among the most important intellectual projects in the Arab world. Al Jabri provided an unmatched contribution to the modernization of contemporary Arab thought, stressing the need for a critical methodology based on reason and analysis of knowledge. The seminar will be an occasion to dissect the themes of “identity” and “globalization”, linking both to the current situations in the Arab world and the West.
