The success of democracy hinges on the party’s role in training citizens and expressing their concerns and opinions, Secretary General of the ruling Justice and Development Party (PJD) Abdelilah Benkirane said.
Speaking during a meeting on Friday held by the party’s regional secretariat in Rabat, Benkirane said that party leading the governmental coalition has a political role in terms of training citizens, adding that such a task starts at the level of the party members who should be informed about political developments and the measures taken by their party in managing public affairs.
On this occasion, Benkirane pointed to the large-scale reforms launched in Morocco with the aim of reinforcing justice and spurring development.
On the issue of the set of specifications for the public audiovisual outlets, the PJD Secretary General voiced astonishment at the views expressed by some public servants. He added that the set of specifications were elaborated on the basis of a participatory approach.
Benkirane also stressed the need to allocate subsidies to the underprivileged categories, notably widowed and divorced women.
Concerning employment, Benkirane underscored that recruitment will be merit-based within the framework of the law through organizing admission exams.
