Tetouan – The five senses placed in a fascinating country. Morocco gives me feelings and I’ve tried to pass on you using these snapshots.
Morocco should be lived fairly close to the five senses, with its sense of exotic, interesting mystery. But that only depends on the visitor, with shadows for some of them, or pure and uncensored culture for others like me.
With these 37 snapshots I´d like to show my experiences in the trips I have done to this country repeatedly. I have always been surprised by the landscape every time I come back to Morocco. I have experienced the feeling of being alone in any corner, away from tourism, and without any guide, just walking through their villages, roads and streets. I have walked with them in the same way, away from people who only wanted to take me to those touristic places not so pure for me.
I have always experienced Morocco with no fear or problem. That´s the reason why I think I have brought out the very essence of this country. Sometimes, I think visitors lose the opportunity of living the real Moroccan experience only because they have been told about hundreds of problems in the place. They are completely wrong.
I have walked through the streets where Moroccan people usually work. I have heard the sounds of ancient jobs, already lost in our “modern” society. They now remind me some previous experiences that can be present experiences in that fascinating place for me. Art is everywhere. It´s around the leather, iron, clay workers as much as in the way they bake their magnificent, aromatic homemade bread.
When I try their so elaborated meals in the streets, I enjoy all the nice smells that arise from these stalls. I get involved in the daily development of its people, being interested in the everyday details that go unnoticed by common people. I have tried to draw the faces of people living in such a fascinating country and who always show in their eyes, the living Moroccan essence!
