Pierre Moscovici, Representative and Spokesman for French president-elect, the socialist Francois Hollande, commended on Wednesday the “extremely brotherly climate” marking the relationship with Morocco and confirmed the willingness of the future management team in France bring the two countries and two peoples closer together.
“We want to bring the societies closer together, it is through politics, but it should be also through societies,” said Pierre Moscovici, after his first meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani.
“We also want to work together, particularly on regional issues, which are very key issues,” he said at a press conference on international contacts of Holland and on his meeting with El Otmani.
The congratulatory message sent by King Mohammed VI to Holland after winning the second round Sunday and the first contact with the Moroccan government, is “a message of friendship between France and Morocco,” said Moscovici.
He also saw it as “a message of friendship conveyed by the government and by the King to the new French president.”
This friendship, he said, was “kept by political events and changes that occur on both sides, because there is a major change in Morocco and there is a significant change in France.”
