The promising youngster has made the decision to feature for the Oranje at international level, and is still in the running to make it into the national team’s squad for Euro 2012.
AZ midfielder Adam Maher has opted to represent the Netherlands at international level rather than the homeland of his father – Morocco.
“I will also choose for Oranje if I don’t make the squad for Euro 2012. The only difference is that I don’t have to make it official yet in that case. I’ve discussed this with my family, and I think this is the best solution for me.”
Maher follows in the footsteps of players such as Ibrahim Afellay and Khalid Boulahrouz, who also chose the Netherlands over Morocco.
On the other hand, Zakaria Labyad, Oussama Assaidi and Ismail Aissati opted for the African country in recent years.
