The General Directorate of National Security denies the news that Mustapha Mufid, Rabat head of the Police Department, was assaulted by two drunk men while ordering them to leave when he caught them on the verge of bringing about chaos during the opening of Mawazine Festival nearly two weeks ago. The Directorate deems the news as a hoax spread by news outlets and national newspapers.
In a report released today, the Directorate made it clear that the real story of the event was that a police patrol arrested two men on ground of creating chaos under the heavy influence of alcohol. Mufid only performed his job when he caught them red-handed as they were about to set fire to the red carpet with a cigarette butt.
The report points out that the two suspects are now under custody as was decreed by the Public Prosecutor. The latter will take the suspects to court to get their just deserts.
The Directorate of the National Security intends to clarify the misunderstanding spread among Moroccans promising a fair trial of the suspects, while emphasizing that all Moroccans are equal before the law.
Mustapha Mufid, was allegedly beaten by two young drunk men during the opening of Mawazin Festival last Friday.
Immediately after the publication of this news story, many Moroccans resorted to social media to voice their displeasure at the impunity still afforded to influential people. People were unanimously calling on the government to keep its promise regarding the implementation of the spirit of the constitution, according to which all Moroccans, regardless of their social status, are equal before the law.
