Morocco called, on Friday in New York, for bolder international measures with a view of making progress regarding the Middle East issue.
“The deterioration of conditions in Palestinian territories ( ) requires the Security council to take a firm position and bolder measures to preserve the foundation for a fair and comprehensive solution” in the Middle East, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Mohamed Loulichki said.
The Moroccan diplomat stressed that Israel will not return to the table of negotiations unless firm measures are taken.
Loulichki also reiterated Morocco’s commitment to peace despite the obstacles to the process. “We hope that all the parties will show responsibility with a view to achieve peace in the region,” he said.
Loulichki welcomed the agreement regarding the 1,000 Palestinian prisoners who staged a hunger strike, recalling that 4,700 Palestinians are still behind bars in Israeli jails.
The Moroccan Ambassador also condemned the attack that shook the capital city of Yemen, killing 90 and injuring 200 others.
