The “Forum of Moroccan Professionals” organized a seminar on the role of media in consolidating the concept of extended regionalization. The forum, whose office is run by Mohamed Al Aouad, took place in Kassr Elkbir in the north of Morocco.
The seminar which witnessed a remarkable, balanced attendance was also attended by key figures from the media field, such as Moktadir Said, a media specialist, Meryem Essafi, the regional director of Fez radio, Abdelfatah El Baalamchi, the president of the Moroccan Center for Diplomacy and Dialogue among Civilizations and several other prominent figures.
According to Said El Jadidi, the Moroccan media is going through a terrible crisis, the same way the international media. Yet, despite the current crisis, the national media could benefit a great deal through consolidating the concept of extended regionalization.
On the other hand, Meryem Essami pointed out that the regionalization of the radios preceded the ratification of the economic and territorial regionalization. “The contributions on the part of the national radios have played a crucial role in mobilizing and enlightening the local public opinion,” she added.
During his intervention, El Balaamchi laid much emphasis on the importance of the subject in that regionalization and media smoothly go hand in hand towards Moroccan democratic development. He also stressed that media is “an invaluable tool” that can be used to stand by the intellectual and civic society.
In his turn, Mohamed Echtouki shed light on the predicament of the regional press which, for him, makes great efforts to disseminate pieces of news and information in areas neglected by the national and international media.
In one of his final statements, Mohamed Al Aouad promises “to organize more seminars in the near future, especially those dealing with the current concerns of Morocco, in an attempt to make our voices heard worldwide.”
