Taroudant – The 8th gathering of the Festival of Amazigh Culture will be held from July 13 to 15 in Fez. The festival is a joint initiative of the Spirit of Fez Foundation and the Fez Saiss Association.
The festival, organized in collaboration with the Foundation BMCE, will have the theme “Mother Tongue and Diaspora.” The theme serves to offer an opportunity for intellectuals, researchers and academics to discuss the promotion of the Amazigh culture and the enhancement of the various music genres of Morocco.
The program of this year’s festival is very rich and extensive, including lectures on language and its impact on migration, writing workshops, music performances, poetry readings, art exhibitions and a parade of the Moroccan caftan, which also shows carpet Amazigh.
According to Moha Ennaji, the festival director, the meeting brings together the development process, the values of peace and dialogue and social cohesion in order to deepen the reflection on strategies to involve the Amazigh culture at the service of human development.
This cultural event was initiated in partnership with the North South Centre and the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture. The festival conquers interesting topics like “The role of identity in social change and human development”, “The civilizational dimension of the integration of the Amazigh language and culture”, “Sociocultural representations of the mother tongue” and other sociocultural topics.
