According to reports in the daily newspaper “Almassae,” a teacher in a private school in Casablanca stripped off a 6-year-old child’s clothes and diapered her. The little child had to visit all the school’s classrooms so that the rest of the children would see her. The episode was a punishment because the young girl did not do her homework.
The severely shocked girl told her parents about the incident while sobbing. She refused to return to the school. The mother inquired about the incident at the school and her complaint was received coldly. The director said that the mother’s protest was unjustified because the teacher did her duty and applied the adopted teaching methodology in the school: an approach that aims to force the students to do their homework.
The administrator went even further and said that diapering and forcing the children around to nearby classes is the latest adopted method of child rearing in Europe. The school implemented the practice based on what was stated on a website. The director rallied against the mother on the grounds that she created a nuisance because the issue was such a trivial matter. She stressed that a number of children were subjected to the same punishment and no family has ever objected.
