Sheikh Almaghraoui, president of Invitation to the Quran and Assona, said yesterday that the Hadith on which Annahari based his argument to call for the death of Laghzioui has no origin, implying that it is impermissible to act upon it.
During a lecture in Marrakech, the Sheikh praised Annahari for his intention to defend the Islamic values, but urged him to treat people kindly and gently.
He went on to say that the Hadith on which the prophet of Islam is reported to have said, “Kill Whoever has no feeling of jealousy” is groundless.
This is the first announcement from a Moroccan Muslim scholar that denounces the radical Imam’s death call. In the midst of the heated debate over sexual freedom, scholars who represent official religious institutions prefer to maintain their silence. Conversely, Salafi clerics such as Hassan AL-Kettani and Abou Hafs, both are fromer detainees, upholded Nahari’s position.
Almeghraoui pointed out that the tendency of rejecting adultery and prostitution is innate in human being. “ Society should be built on chastity, purity and lowering the sight”, he added.
