Mohamed Choubani, Minister in charge of relations with parliament and civil society, recently urged his associates to get a petition signed by one million people demanding that the government introduce a two percent wage cut in all sectors, according to the newspaper “Al Massae.”
The aim of this petition is to provide financial support for the establishment of a fund to aid unemployed students. The Minister implied that the government cannot introduce such measures without the approval of citizens themselves.
During a meeting in Gulmim, the Minister explained that collecting funding for the unemployed in this way is still far from reality. “The idea of launching a fund for the unemployed through wages cut should not be suggested by the government because it would be perceived as unpopular and an attempt to target the purchasing power of the citizens,” he said.
The Minister, therefore, emphasized the importance of such a fund, although he is aware that there will be parliamentary opposition and opposition from other organizations.
It is worth noting that the unemployed graduates are protesting on a daily basis in front of the parliament, refusing to take any job tests and demanding direct recruitment. The head of the government had already confirmed his rejection of such demands.
