Elaborating an organic law concerning the implementation of the officialisation of the Amazigh language is a priority for the government which is currently pondering on this issue, Minister of National Education Mohamed El Ouafa said on Monday.
Speaking at the Lower House on the measures taken to integrate Amazigh in the educational system, El Ouafa said that the upcoming law will enable this language to be used as an official language along side Arabic.
He shed light on the progress achieved in terms of teaching Amazigh which started in the 2003-2004 school year.
In this connection, El Ouafa said that the schools in which the language is taught rose from 317 to 4000 with 14,000 teachers.
He added 15% of Moroccan pupils (545,000) received Amazigh classes this year.
