E.ON,Germany’s leading power supplier, said Tuesday it has made further oil and gas discoveries in Algeria, where it cooperates with the national oil and gas company Sonatrach.
The discovery was made in the Rhourde Yacoub area in the eastern Algerian Sahara, around 250 kilometres south-east of Hassi Messaoud, the company said in a statement.
“We are very pleased with another successful discovery of oil and gas in Algeria. The results of this well are very encouraging and we will now enter a phase where we will drill several wells over the next two years to evaluate the extension of the discoveries,” said the head of the group’s exploration
and production activities in Algeria, Hubert Mainitz.
