The Palestinian Islamic Movment Hamas has denied claims published in the Moroccan daily Assabah that a meeting between Khaled Meshaal and the former Israeli adviser Ofer Bronchtein took place in Morocco.
According to the Arab daily AlQods, Hamas denied that any meeting with Bronchtein had taken place during a dinner in the house of the late Abdelkrim Alkhatib, the founder of the PJD party.
Hamas stressed that, “What is being circulated about a meeting between Khaled Mashaal and a former Israeli adviser is a sort of fabricated and baseless allegation. We have no idea about the presence of such person among invited guests of the PJD’s congress,”
The statement went on to say that no meeting was held with Khaled Meshaal or with any other member of Hamas delegation. It also highlighted that Hamas policy is consistent, and that no change is underway regarding the rejection of meetings with any Israeli personality.
The movement confirmed, however, that the Palestinian delegation attended the mentioned dinner party to which “dozens of guests mostly Arabs, Muslims and Europeans were invited.”
