The Culture Ministry’s Action Plan for 2012 will be geared towards strengthening the national identity and meeting the challenges of modernization and democratization.
This plan will revolve around supporting proximity policies, encouraging creativity and protecting the tangible and intangible heritage as well as promoting international cooperation and good governance, the Ministry said in a statement.
In this respect, priority will be given to preserving Morocco’s cultural specificities and promoting all its constituents, in the meanwhile openness towards universal cultural values will be encouraged, the same document said.
The Ministry will also endeavor to create culture economy through contributing to laying basis for cultural industries.
The same document said that Morocco has some 686 cultural facilities, including 136 libraries, 51 music conservatories and 32 theaters.
As part of its 2012 Action Plan, the Ministry will upgrade 107 cultural institutions and will create 5 new cultural centers, 7 libraries and 2 music institutions.
