Poultry prices have almost doubled in a few weeks in Morocco, from 13 to 25 Dirhams per kilogram in some regions because of the heat.
Speaking to 2M TV on Sunday night, Mr. Badawi said that “The price of feed has increased since three months,” confirming that 70 percent of the small poultry farmers are forced to shut down their shops.
According to Medi1sat TV, the sector of poultry in Morocco has recorded losses estimated to 231 million Dirhams due to the recent heat wave that stroke Morocco.
Speaking to Medi1sat TV, Shawqi Jirari, director of the semi-commercial federation of the poultry sector attributed the high price of poultry to the last heat wave registered in most regions of Morocco.
According to the statistics provided by the semi-commercial federation of the sector of poultry, the percentage of the losses that are recorded in the sector on the national level exceeds 12 % of chickens and 5% of turkey that are on the final stage of production.
Shawqi Jirari confirmed to Medi1 TV channel that the production of poultry is in progress in spite of the losses and the Moroccan market will maintain its self-sufficiency in the sector of poultry.
It is worth mentioning that Morocco experiences a shortage of white meat during the same period every year.
