On the occasion of the 15th International Anti-Corruption Conference scheduled to take place on 7-10 November 2012, Transparency International is offering young bloggers and journalists in the Middle East and North Africa a scholarship to take part in the conference.
After short-listing, only one young journalist will be selected to receive the training he or she needs before traveling to Brazilia, Brazil so as to report on the Conference sessions through various Social Media and New Media channels.
The scholarship beneficiary will have the opportunity to learn more about corruption at a global scale and meet key players in this important field.
Transparency International will take in charge visa costs, accommodation for five nights, airport transfers and meals. Only the journalist’s travel insurance is rule out.
For the journalist or blogger to be eligible, he or she must:
• Be 35 years or younger
• Be a journalist or blogger with at least one year of work experience ( photojournalist, video broadcast journalist, print/online journalist or tech-savvy journalist)
• Be based in one of the following countries:
Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, or Yemen
• have professional command of English
• have an interest in creating change and fighting corruption
To apply, a journalist or a blogger must:
[1] Fill out the application form
[2] Write a short essay in English (400 – 500 words)
“Why you want to join our social media unit and what you can do to contribute to our social media unit from now until the 15th IACC, as well as during the Conference.:
[3] Submit links/samples of his/her prior work in the form of articles, photos, and blogs on topics related to what will be discussed at the conference.
[4] Submit a resume or CV with references
[5] Submit a Cover Letter
