The Ministry of National Education decided to grant two days break per week to primary school teachers at all levels and in all educational institutions for both urban and rural areas.
Mohammed Al-Wafa, Minister of National Education, issued a ministry circular, addressed to various departments of the ministry, calling to make on Saturday and Sunday an official break for all levels of primary education.
According to the Ministry the new circular is “in line with international standards and as applied in most countries in the field of education, regarding the management of school time”. The Ministry, thus, canceled its circular 122, which previously determined school time in primary schools.
The ministry circular set study times in urban areas on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, in the morning from 8 am to 12 pm, and in the afternoon from 2 pm until 4:30 pm. On Wednesday, classes will take place only during the morning from 8 am to 12 pm. The morning session on Friday will start from 8 am to 12 pm, while the afternoon session, unlike the other days, will start at 2:30 pm.
Concerning the rural regions, the Ministry of National Education allows for rural schools to adopt the daily timing of classes to the climatic and geographical conditions of each school.
