Morocco has reinforced its position as Spain’s best Mediterranean customer, as it became the first market for Spanish exports outside Europe in 2011, Spanish deputy president of the committee on economy and competition at the Spanish senate said Wednesday in Rabat.
“There are now larger prospects for promoting trade between the two kingdoms,” Isabel Jiménez Garcia told the first session of the Moroccan-Spanish parliamentary forum.
She added that “Morocco has become the first customer of Spain in the Maghreb and the first destination of Spanish investments in Africa.”
Spanish companies’ investments abroad account for 40% of GDP, she said
The Spanish MP welcomed the level of relations between Rabat and Madrid, based on solid institutional ties, and called for continued efforts to carry out economic projects likely to give fresh impetus to common development.
