A fire was declared early on Thursday in the medina (old city) of Casablanca, eye witnesses told Morocco World News.
The incident took place in a firewood store located in the Bousbir neighborhood in the medina.
Firefighters had difficulties to access the premises of the store in order to extinguish the fire, which spread to some homes in the surrounding area. According to eye-witnesses, no human loss was to deplore. The injured, most of whom suffered from asphyxiation were transported to the hospital.
Sources from the spot confirmed that the blaze has been successfully extinguished.
This fire comes about almost two days after a disastrous road accident that resulted in the death of 43 people and left 24 seriously injured.
No information has been yet provided about the causes of the incident.
