The Royal Moroccan Football Federation might assign Dominique Koperli, the current assistant coach, to succeed Eric Gerets at the helm of the Atlas Lions in the second leg of the African Cup qualifiers match against Mozambique scheduled to take place on October 13.
Ali Fassi Fihri, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, is supposed to meet on Tuesday with his adviser Mr. Karim al Alim, who headed the mission that accompanied the national team to Mozambique.
The meeting will be held to assess the circumstances that accompanied the preparations of the Atlas Lions in Portugal, as well as to learn about the problems and real causes behind their disappointing performance in Mozambique on Sunday.
Mr. Fassi Fihri will accordingly make a decision about the future of Eric Gerets with the National team.
“Eric Gerets lost all support from the members of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation,” a well-acquainted source told MWN.
Eric Gerets’ dismissal is just a matter of time, especially with the mounting disappointment of Moroccan football fans who directed their criticism against the federation’s lack of vision which caused the subpar performance by the national team over the past two years.
