China Wednesday condemned the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and expressed shock at the attack on the consulate in which the envoy and three of his co-workers died.
“We are shocked at attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi that caused the death and injury of a number of people, including the US ambassador. And we strongly condemn the violent deeds,” foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in a statement quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.
US ambassador Chris Stevens and three colleagues were killed in the assault on the US consulate in Benghazi late Tuesday by a mob angered by a US-made film deemed offensive to Islam.
