Ali Fassi Fihri, head of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation revealed on Monday in the House of representatives the name of candidates to succeed Eric Gerets as coach of the Moroccan national football team.
Ali Fassi Fihri confirmed that the committee in charge of choosing the coach, headed by a member of the federation board, Abdelilah Akram, the President of the WAC of Casablanca, meets in the meantime with four national candidates to coach the national football team, namely Badou Zaki, Aziz Al Ameri, M’Hamed Fakher, and Rashid Tawsi.
The head of the federation added that the name of the new coach for Moroccan national football team will be announced this week, either on Wednesday or Thursday.
Last week, the Moroccan Federation terminated the contract with Gerets, who coached the Moroccan National football team for 2 years.
Since 2004 when Badou Zaki lead Morocco’s national team to the final of the African Cup of Nations for the first time, he won the hearts of millions of Moroccan football fans.
A survey conducted by Radio Mars on Sunday showed that a majority of Moroccans is hopeful to see Zaki lead the national team.
