Under the guidance of king Mohammed VI, Morocco has made the choice of consolidating the rule of law based on a participatory and integrated approach put in place decades ago, Foreign Minister, Saad Dine el Otmani said Monday in New York.
This innovative approach, el Otmani told a meeting on the rule of law at the national and international levels, has made possible the achievement of large-scale reform projects aimed to reinforce the rule of law, the democratic institutions and the rights linked to citizenship.
He said Morocco has now a strong will to move forward with these efforts to further consolidate the rule of law, the respect of human rights, the promotion of human development and of the values of dialogue and tolerance at the international, regional and international levels.
El Otmani renewed the commitment of the north African nation to lay the foundations of a multilateral world order founded on the international law, noting that the UN is the right framework to succeed the collective efforts to build an international community living in peace, security, sustainable development and the respect of human rights.
The international community, he said, should keep up with these efforts in the framework of shared responsibility in order to face the new trans-border threats that hinder local and international actions aimed to consolidate the rule of law, warning against the dangers of terrorist organisations, separatist movements and organised crime networks, especially in Africa.
