France is confident of Morocco’s attachment to democracy, French minister delegate for European affairs Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday in Strasbourg.
“Morocco is a major country which we respect and love very much” given the cultural, historical and political ties “uniting us,” he told the press following a meeting with head of government Abdelilah Benkirane on the sidelines of the world democracy forum.
Cazeneuve reaffirmed at the opening of the forum, held under the patronage of president François Hollande, France’s will to support Arab transitions.
He lauded the French-Moroccan relations in different areas and the Euro-Mediterranean prospects for concrete projects.
Morocco is taking part in the event as “partner for democracy” of the Council of Europe, the initiator of this forum which seeks to find democratic answers to the new economic, social and political challenges facing contemporary societies.
