In a previous article I raised the issue of the most dangerous computer worms in the history of the computer and software industry, which are known as Flame and Stuxnet. At that time Iranian officials proved to either Israel or the United States that its systems are secure against any threat coming from any source.
However, recent news coming from the Arabian Gulf shows that Israel is still doing its best to destroy the Iranian nuclear program electronically before militarily. Mohamed Reza Golshani who is the head of the Communications and Information Technology (IT) Department of the National Iranian Offshore Oil Company (NIOOC) has declared that his department has come against a very dangerous attack from Israel, but his experts were able to shield the attack and add it to the failures of Israeli covert operations. He added that the attack come from different IP addresses and different countries. In addition, the FARS news agency confirmed in the words of the head of the oil ministry Hamdollah Mohammadnejad that “a number of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) servers were recently attacked by a malware, but the cyber security experts of the oil industry contained it immediately”. Iran announced in June that it had detected plans by the United States, Israel and Britain to launch a massive cyber strike only days after talks ended between senior Iranian and western negotiators in Moscow.
On the other side of this ongoing cold war, according to Reuters, the Israeli air force shot down a drone on Saturday after it crossed into southern Israel, but it remained unclear where the aircraft had come from. It has been speculated that the drone was launched near the Gaza strip which is ruled by Hamas. However, some other Israeli resources claimed that the drone was sent by Hezbollah or Iran. Iran has completely denied that it has sent any aircraft into Israeli air space.
If really this drone is sent from Iran or Hezbollah, which some Israeli repots claim, the latter has some old ones bought from Russia, it means that Israel is really under threat and the results of any war against Iran could prove destructive for the country.
All these developments prove that the cyber war between Iran and Israel is still going on and there is no winner yet.
