According to Al Jazeera , Mohammed Ouled Abdelaziz, the Mauritanian president was injured in an assassination attempt carried by a group of armed men.
The president was shot in his arm and carried immediately to the hospital in the capital Nouakchott.
The correspondent of Aljazeera confirmed that the president’s health status is stable.
The armed group managed to escape and the Mauritanian forces are in top alert.
He added that the Presidential Guard and security forces cordoned off the military hospital, and shut the ports leading to the center amid a state of uncertainty and rumors.
The sources did not issue so far any official details about the operation which targeted the President
