The Moroccan football squad have qualified for the the African Cup of Nations (ACN-2013), after they thrashed Mozambique 4-0 on Saturday night in Marrakech.
The final score is reminiscent of the game against Algeria on the same pitch (4-0).
The Moroccan squad was required to score more than two goals to offset the 2-0 deficit in the first leg. The mission seemed nearly impossible, but the new coach, Rachid Taoussi, and the line-up he chose proved they are up to it.
The goals of the Atlas Lions were scored by Abdelaziz Berrada (39th minute), Houcine Kharja (64th, on penalty), Youssef El Arabi (85th) and Nordine Amrabet (90+4).
This is the 15th time the Atlas Lions have qualified for the African Cup of Nations (CAN). The Moroccans won the cup only once, in 1976.
Morocco makes a good come-back after a series of let-ups under former coach, Belgian Eric Gerets. The squad seemed to have a new breathe on the pitch, with offensive play and an unshakeable resolve to emerge victorious.
